Often referred as « Mauritius of 20 years ago », Rodrigues has nothing to envy to the mainland. Located 600km northeast of Mauritius, the island has a turquoise lagoon twice its size and a slow pace of life which only reinforce its remoteness from the rest of the world.
This volcanic island has many things to offer to adventurers in search of tranquility. Port-Mathurin, its capital, is all that is most typical with a traditional market that allows to discover artisan creation in braided Vacoas, achards with ourites and homemade tamarind chilli. You can also taste local sausages, pies or honey locally produced.
In Rodrigues, we may say that the food is good and people are warm.
By taking the coastal road of the south-east of the island you can walk along the cliffs, testimony of the volcanic heritage of the island, to reach isolated coves, the most famous being Trou d’Argent. For the most adventurous, a jump into the void is available with a fabulous view of the sea. Those who rather be on the safe side can walk with the turtles of the reserve François Leguat or discover the caves of Caverne Patate.
Some nice authentic experiences are also organized on private tours. Visit a typical Rodrigues’ house, learn how to cook a tourte, plant a plant, try sega tambour are among some of our activities.
Very different from the island around, the Reunion Island is a volcanic land, full of character and ideal for a full nature experience.
With impressive heights, it is impossible to go to Reunion without a hike in one of its Cirque. Those walks will lead you to natural springs, waterfalls and breathtaking views.
Black sand beaches, ponds and winding roads are the promise of this intense island.
